The first
subway line (3.6 km) was built and launched in London January 10, 1863. The construction
was made by the company «Metropolitan Railways». Initially, the first line of London underground
was steam-power operated, and only in
1890 it was replaced by electricity.
Oh, Yes I've heard of it. It's a pity to analyse that when first subway was launched the Russian Empire just partly liquidated feudalism. The conditions in this subways were so horrible that people even bought pills which were sold on the stations.
