April Fools' Day: Origin and History

April Fools' Day, sometimes called All Fools' Day, is one of the most light-hearted days of the year. Its origins are uncertain. Some see it as a celebration related to the turn of the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar. Ancient cultures, including those of the Romans and Hindus, celebrated New Year's Day on or around April 1. It closely follows the vernal equinox (March 20th or March 21st.) 1. Today, all over the world, on the first day in April, April Fool's is a day where tricks are played on people in a spirit of fun. Anyone who plays a mean trick is just being mean. For the rest of us, April Fool's Day is a challenging game of trickery! April Fools' Day is not celebrated in Belarus like an important holiday, but it is famous enough. For me it'a just another reason to smile, make some simple pranks, laugh and have a day of fun.

  2. When we all were children we wanted to celebrate this holiday as it is celebrated in the western countries. Nowadays there are only sarcastic jokes such as:"Oh! Your back is white"/"your laces are untied" etc.
But not all the people know about the interesting statistics connected with this date.
-In 10% of April Fools' draws pets are involved.
-The name of this holiday in Japan is "The doll's day"
-In Spain April Fools' Day is celebrated on December 28.
But the fact that this day has no concrete foundation makes people divide into two camps, those who celebrate and vice versa.
